Support for Children/Youth
My approach addresses your child’s emotional and mental wellbeing, enhancing their overall functioning at home, school, and in the community. Support is offered to deal with a variety of issues affecting your child/teen such as anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, parent’s divorce, depression, compulsive disorders, truancy, substance use, or experiences of trauma including witnessing domestic violence. Although the issues facing your child are challenging and complex, applied interventions are based in evidence, individualized to meet your child and family needs, focused on coping skills, positive change, and resiliency.
Support for Parents
My goal is to support your family as you work together to develop strategies that are consistently addressing a child’s mental wellbeing and development. Research shows that protective factors contribute to positive outcomes for children with mental health challenges. A family’s ability to respond to their child’s needs, be supportive, and make positive changes in the home contributes to healthy coping and resiliency. I support parents with their questions and concerns about the challenging job of parenting by addressing specific issues that come up for families, and how to reduce the negative impact on a child’s development and health.
Support for Adults
My goal is to work alongside you, ensuring the treatment plan meets your needs and goals, building on your strengths to address the challenges you have identified.
I have a long history of supporting survivors of childhood abuse and adults experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and trauma. Building on your experience, skills and resiliency my approach recognizes the long-term impact of traumatic experiences and helps you to learn coping strategies, adaptations to trauma, and enhances post-traumatic growth.
